Activities and excursions are optional extras and are organised as a service for students.

Our social programme gives you lots of opportunities yo enjoy yourself, meet other students and French people and practise your French in a relaxed way

Our extra-curricular activities include trips to local areas of interest, such as l’Estaque traditional area of rare beauty, painted by many great painters such as Cezanne, Renoir, Braque,…

Le Panier district, an area permanently inhabited for the past 26 centuries.

Notre-Dame de la Garde, XIX century basilica on top of a hill whence most of Marseilles (the city and the islands) can be admired.

Marseilles also has lots of modern architectural sites of interest such as the experimental 1950’s « cité radieuse » by Le Corbusier and buildings by other world famous architects such as Fernand Pouillon.

Le château d’If (on its island made famous by Alexandre Dumas’ « Comte de Monte Cristo».

The breathtaking calanques (coves between Marseilles and Cassis) classified as a world heritage site by UNESCO.

Aix-en-Provence, the Provençal port of La Ciotat (where the first film in the history of cinema was shot by the Lumière brothers : «the train coming into La Ciotat station»)

CIPEL also proposes visits of museums or countless art exhibitions, cultural events (Avignon theatre festival in July, cinema, theatre and dance rehearsals) typical restaurant parties, picnics, wine tasting and French or Provençal cuisine workshops or other social and educational opportunities.

These activities are offered either free or at cost price.


And last but not the least, Marseilles has extensive sport facilities that cover most sporting activities (swimming and water sports, horse riding, tennis, golf gymnastics, body building, yoga, squash, para-gliding, etc…that can be practiced with the school or privately.
